Love the post and the newsletter! But Billy Joel? I thought you were hardcore, bro, Black Flag, Husker Du, Soviet Sex, Will Oldham, Nick Cave, etc. Joel has a decent voice and good piano chops, but for me his songs work... sorta... when he sings stuff like Uptown Girl; however, when he tries to dip his foot into Dylanland (as he does with his new song), it's like watching Wallace Shawn trying to be Sean Connery.
On a different note, I met you briefly at St. Francis College (I work there) when you interviewed George Saunders, I believe, or maybe it was Jonathan Lathem. It seems so long again, and SFC is no longer where it used to be.
