This was GREAT. Thanks for sharing 826 Boston with us (and Dave Eggers, of course!). Sigh. It makes me want to snap my fingers and time travel back to age 12. I'd be on the doorstep of 826 Boston, hesitantly opening the door... Even now, if I were back in Boston, I'd be on the doorstep of 826 Boston. Love to all. https://826boston.org/
I feel more hopeful at the end of the conversation too, thank you! Loved the generosity. “Huh, that person knows what he's talking about, and he thinks I'm good enough to do this. So, maybe that's real. Maybe that means something.” 💚💚
This was beautiful! So many moments, so much hope, and yes, the feeling of one thing ending and another one beginning. "Art has to be absolutely free." Thanks for this ramble, kind sir.
Great interview, thanks Isaac! Eggers invited me to talk to the kids at 826 Valencia, I was so struck by how eager they were to talk about being able to tell a story as they needed to. Love this quote from Eggers,“That feels true to me. That's what I live. He’s recognizing and even exalting a kind of life I know.”

What a wonderful conversation. DE’s comments about collapsing the space between the kids and the world really resonated. It’s so important. That’s how we create a space for play and craftsmanship - two things all kids have within them, but are diminished by an education system that would rather have then write stupid standard essays.
I've fallen very behind on reading my newsletters but I loved this! The Best American anthologies that teens from 826 helped edit are incredible. Also, New Jersey has SO MUCH nature/wilderness. If you ever wanna do a NJ walk... =)

Damn that was long, I scrolled down to see how much more and now there is no way back but I will find a way. It was great. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing!
What a great conversation, it made me want to write again. I gave it a shoutout in our Park Slope newsletter. https://parkslopewalk.substack.com/p/bric-the-bandshell-3-carnivals-5th
You can drive 80 miles out of NYC and be in the Delaware Water Gap National Park--in, yes, New Jersey. It's beautiful out there!
Amazing chat! Thanks so much for sharing!!
This was really great -- thanks Isaac

Lovely talk. Also wanted to chime in that ABSOLUTELY Eggers was responsible for the shape of early online tone. Completely agree.
